One of the most important parts of any student’s experience is the educators guiding them along the way. That’s why this post is all about our amazing teachers—the people who make learning engaging, personalized, and inspiring in a virtual school setting.

Whether your student is just beginning their journey with us or continuing their online learning adventure, getting to know the Tri Star Virtual Schools teaching team is a great first step.

Why Teacher Connections Matter in Online School

In traditional schools, students interact with teachers face-to-face every day. In a virtual school, fostering those connections requires intentional effort, but the results are just as meaningful. Strong teacher-student relationships:

  • Support academic growth and mastery of skills.

  • Build confidence and engagement in a virtual environment.

  • Foster a sense of community, even when learning from home.

At Tri Star Virtual, we emphasize connection and accessibility. Every student has opportunities to interact with their teachers through live lessons, discussion boards, one-on-one sessions, and feedback on assignments.

A Day in the Life of a Tri Star Teacher

Ever wonder what it’s like to teach at a virtual school? Our educators manage a balance of live lessons, asynchronous learning, and personalized support to ensure every student thrives. A typical day might include:

  • Hosting live video lessons and small-group discussions.

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on assignments.

  • Checking in with students one-on-one to address questions or challenges.

  • Collaborating with fellow teachers to enhance curriculum and share best practices.

These activities demonstrate that teaching online is dynamic and interactive—not just reading slides or recording lessons. Tri Star Virtual Schools teachers bring creativity, patience, and energy to every virtual interaction.

Teaching Beyond the Screen

Our teaching team brings diverse experiences, passions, and expertise to Tri Star Virtual Schools. Each teacher is committed to creating a supportive environment where students can thrive. But our team at Tri Star Virtual Schools strives to be more than faces on a screen; we’re people, working every day to cultivate a vibrant community. Let’s get to know a few of our teachers!

Q: Why did you choose to teach in a virtual school rather than a traditional classroom?

Mrs. Fairchild: I love the ability to work with students one-on-one to meet their individual needs. It gives a lot of flexibility, so I can reach out to each student individually and do what is best for them.

Ms. Webb: The virtual environment allows me to interact with the students as well as their families. I am able to get to know them and know how to best serve them. It is very rewarding.

Q: How do you structure your lesson plans to accommodate different learning styles and still make them engaging in a virtual setting?

Mrs. Fairchild: I love creating engaging lessons for all types of learners. I include videos, pictures, interactive slides, drawing activities, and games to spark the interest of all students. I also give space for each student to share and ask questions.

Dr. Paris: I want my students to leave my math class with a feeling of being able to "do math". I work examples for them and with them until they are confident in their own abilities. I want them to know that they can always ask questions, without fear, because asking questions is the way to learn and understand.

Q:What’s your favorite part of a daily routine with students? Why does it feel meaningful?

Mrs. Fairchild: I love our morning meeting. I usually have about 10 students that join and we are able to share what's going on in our lives, talk about a SEL skill like kindness or respect, and do some fun activities like a brain break or drawing video. It is a great time to connect with the students and get to know them better.

Ms. Webb: I really enjoy Open Office, because I get to speak with students and help them individually. This also gives me a great opportunity to get to know them and chat about their interests, hobbies, vacations, sports, etc.

Dr. Paris: I look forward to seeing students at my Live Lesson classes, where they talk and participate. The more everyone participates, the more comfortable everyone feels.

Q: What is one lesson or class that stuck with you as a student? How does it guide your teaching today?

Mrs. Fairchild: My high school band class has always stuck with me. Band is where I met some of my best friends and made lifelong memories. My teacher had a huge impact on my life and made learning fun. This makes me want to provide a safe and comfortable environment for my students where they can make friends and not be afraid to go for their dreams.

Ms. Webb: I have always learned best when my teachers had a warm and inviting demeanor. My high school senior English teacher was funny, kind, and encouraging while also having high expectations for students. I have always wanted to be a teacher like her.

Q:  And finally - a fun fact?

Mrs. Fairchild: I am a huge Disney fan and used to work at Disney World in entertainment.

Ms. Webb: I have ancestors who were on the Mayflower.

Dr. Paris: I work security at University of Tennessee football games. Go Vols!
